Ukraine Boosting Export And Import Volumes Of Goods

In January-November 2007, the export volumes of goods and services rose by 27.9%, compared to the relevant period of the previous year, and import volumes – by 34.2%, to reach USD 44,448.9 million and USD 54,041.1 million respectively. The Ukraine’s negative foreign trade balance for the eleven months of 2007 amounted to USD 9,592.2 million (it was minus USD 5,515.1 million in January-November 2006). The export import coverage ratio totalled 0.82 (0.86 in the relevant period of 2006).

As the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine reports, the volume of export supplies to the CIS countries amounted to 38% of the total export volume, to Europe – 30.2% (including the European Union countries – 28.4%), Asia – 20.5%, Africa – 5.8%, America – 5.4%. Compared to January-November 2006, the total export volume of goods and services rose: to the CIS countries – by 49.2%, Asia – by 22.7%, Africa – by 18.3%, Europe – by 17.3% (including the European Union countries – by 15.2%), America – by 2%. The export to Australia and Oceania fell by 10.5%. The largest volumes of export supplies were delivered to the Russian Federation – 25.9% of the Ukraine’s total export volume, Turkey – 7.3%, Italy – 5.5%, Germany and Poland – 3.4% each, Belarus – 3.2% and Kazakhstan – 2.9%.

Compared to January-November 2006, in the relevant period of 2007, the volumes of import supplies to Ukraine increased: from African countries – by factor of 1.6, America – by factor of 1.5, Asia – by 44.6%, Europe – by 37.8% (including the European Union countries – by 37.6%), the CIS countries – by 26.6%, Australia and Oceania – by 16.8%. Imports from the CIS countries accounted for 42.6% of the total imports volume, from Europe – 37.9% (including the European Union countries – 36.6%), Asia – 14.5%, America – 3.7%, Africa – 1.1%, Australia and Oceania – 0.2%. In particular, the largest import volumes were delivered from the Russian Federation – 28.1%, Germany – 9.6%, Turkmenistan – 7.9%, China – 5.4%, Poland – 4.8%, Italy – 3%, and Kazakhstan – 2.8%.

It should be reminded that in January-October 2007, the export volumes of goods and services rose by 27.4%, imports volumes – by 32.9%, year-on-year, to reach USD 39,998.7 million and USD 48,218.9 million respectively.
