Ukraine Ratifies Visa Facilitation Agreement With European Union

The Verkhovna Rada has ratified the Agreement on simplified visa procedures between Ukraine and the European Union. The bill No. 0012 received the votes of 413 MPs in view of 226 necessary for adoption.
The ratification of the agreement is aimed at determining on the contractual basis of the procedures for trips of Ukrainian citizens to the EU member countries, as well as at establishing of a simplified and uniform order of considering applications and making decisions on procurement of visas for Ukrainians.
A relevant agreement was signed in June 2007.
The agreement also determines the categories of people eligible to obtain visas on simplified terms and establishes uniform time limits for all EU countries for consideration of applications from Ukrainians for visa procurement, as well as the list of necessary documents.
The agreement also determines a single fixed rate of EUR 35 for processing visa forms.
As it was earlier reported, the Verkhovna Rada has ratified the Agreement on readmission between Ukraine and the European Union. In October, the European Parliament ratified the Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine on simplified visa procedures and on readmission (admission and transfer of persons who have come illegally to a country’s territory).
It should be reminded that in June, Ukraine signed the Agreements on visa facilitation and readmission with the EU.
