Yuschenko Leaves For Davos Economic Forum

Over 2,500 participants from 88 countries, including 27 heads of states and governments, 113 ministers, representatives of leading international organizations, and public figures from all regions of the world, will gather for the World Economic Forum, which will take place under the watchword “The Power of Collaborative Innovation”.
It is planned that on Wednesday Viktor Yuschenko will meet with the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
On Wednesday evening, the head of the Ukrainian state will participate in the session of the forum’s annual meeting. The session is entitled “Pipeline Politics”.
It is expected that on Thursday Viktor Yuschenko will meet with the leader of the Conservative Party of Great Britain David Cameron, as well as with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia Ahmad Badawi. Viktor Yuschenko will participate in the session of the forum dedicated to the issue of “Human Rights in the Global Agenda”.
On Thursday, Viktor Yuschenko will also meet with the President of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development Jean Lemierre, and with the Director General of the World Trade Organization Pascal Lami.
On Friday, the President of Ukraine will meet Duncan Niederauer, CEO of the New York Stock Exchange. On the same day, a meeting of the President of Ukraine with the President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai will take place.
Viktor Yuschenko will also deliver a speech to participants of the special section – “Ukrainian Lunch in Davos”. On Friday evening, the President will return to Kyiv.
The following were included into the delegation: chairwoman of the National Council for the Issues of Charity Vitalina Yuschenko, Foreign Affairs Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko, head of the President’s Office Ruslan Demchenko, deputy head of the Presidential Secretariat Oleksandr Chalyi, permanent representative of Ukraine in the UN Mykola Maimeskul.
It should be reminded that the forum coincides in time with the decision of the World Trade Organization on Ukraine’s accession to the WTO, which is expected on January 25.
The history of the World Economic Forum begins in 1970. As it was earlier reported, the overarching theme of the current forum is “The Power of Collaborative Innovation”. The program also includes discussions on the following issues: Competition and cooperation at the same time, resolution of problems of economic risk, balance of interests in view of discords, researching new boundaries of nature, and understanding future changes.
