Ukraine Accepted To WTO

The General Council of the World Trade Organization has approved Ukraine’s accession.
In particular, the Chile’s Ambassador Mario Matus, who chaired the General Council meeting and who is in charge of the Ukrainian issue in the WTO, put to the vote the approval of the Working Party report and draft protocol on Ukraine’s accession to the WTO.
The General Council of the WTO approved these decisions, after which Matus congratulated the President of Ukraine Viktor Yuschenko who was present at the meeting.
The chairman of the Working Party on Ukraine reminded that the process of Ukraine’s accession to the World Trade Organization began in 1993, and only in 2005 it was speeded up.
