Inflows of FDI to Ukraine could reach US $6bn in 2010

Inflows of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Ukraine’s economy could reach US $5-6bn, according to the deputy director of the InvestUkraine Foreign Investment Facilitation Center, Maksym Ivanov. Mr. Ivanov said that this projection is based on indicators from January 2010 and investment levels in 2009.
“Preliminary FDI numbers for 2009 are in the neighborhood of US $4.4bn,” Mr. Ivanov noted.
He also pointed out that a law on public-private partnerships is needed as an instrument for attracting FDI. Such a bill has already been drafted under the direction of the Chair of the VR Committee for Regulatory Policy, Natalia Korolevska, and has already passed first reading. Mr. Ivanov mentioned another important bill, “On industrial parks,” that is being prepared for second reading in the Verkhovna Rada.
"For investors, the most important point is that this bill includes state support for the managing company and participants in an industrial park," said InvestUkraie's deputy director.
