Ukraine increased output of alloyed steel and manganese ore in Q1

Over January–March 2010, Ukraine’s steelworks increased output considerably compared to the same period of 2009, raising it 2.84 times to 375,400 tonnes. During the same period, Ukraine’s mining enterprises produced 294,500 t of manganese ore, according to information issued by the UkrFA, an association of steel alloy producers.
Production of silicomanganese grew 2.7 times to 248,800 t, ferromanganese 4.5 times to 69,800 t, 45%-ferrosilicate 2.36 times to 52,400 t.
In addition, output of metal-quality manganese grew 91% to 4,400 t.
Over January–February 2010, Ukraine’s steel industry had increased production compared to the same period last year by 2.9 times, to 240,700 t.
