British Ambassador says UK investors want to invest in Ukraine
November 16, 2007
Timothy BARROW, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Ukraine, says that British investors are very much interested in investing in Ukraine.
He made this remark this today during a meeting with Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine Petro POROSHENKO.
The Ambassador noted that against decelerating economic growth in both the US and Europe, Ukraine is an attractive country for foreign investors—provided that it is politically stable and predictable, can guarantee investors’ rights, and takes effective steps to combat corruption.
During the meeting, the two men discussed how to expand economic cooperation between Ukraine and Great Britain. Mr. POROSHENKO and Mr. BARROW both noted that political instability in Ukraine could affect the country’s economy, which has already seen inflation pick up and growth slow down somewhat. In course of the meeting, it was noted that the maximum of efforts need to be applied in order to minimize risks that might negatively affect the country’s financial and banking sector.
