Sunseed prices in Ukraine jump 25% over 2009

The average purchase price for sunflower seed in Ukraine was UAH 2,680/tonne as of July 8, 2010, which was 25% higher than prices during the same period of the previous year, UAH 2,139/t, according to the Agricultural Policy Ministry’s website, referring to current data on the average level of purchase prices for oilseed. According to the notice, the lowest bid for oilseed on that date was UAH 2,400/t, while the highest bid was UAH 2,850/t.
In addition, soy stood at UAH 2,537/t on July 8, with the lowest and highest offers UAH 2,450/t and UAH 2,661/t. Compared to last year, when it was UAH 2,790/t, soy has fallen in price by 8.0%.
The average price for canola (rapeseed) on this date was UAH 2,730/t in Ukraine, with a minimum bid of UAH 2,470/t and maximum of UAH 2,950/t. Compared to last year, prices for this seed grew 6.0%.
