Ukraine And Libya Sign Cooperation Program

Ukraine and Libya have signed the Program of bilateral cooperation for 2008-2009.

The Program was signed on Tuesday in the presence of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yuschenko and the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

On the Ukrainian side, the Cooperation Program was signed by the Foreign Affairs Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko, and on the Libyan side – by the Secretary of the General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation Abd al-Rahman Shalgham.

In addition, the sides have signed the agreements between Ukraine and Libya on legal aid concerning state and criminal affairs, as well as on extradition.

These agreements were signed by the Ukrainian Justice Minister Mykola Onyschuk and Secretary of the Libyan General People's Committee for Justice Mustafa Muhammad Abd-al-Jalil.

The agreements have been signed after bilateral negotiations between the Ukrainian and Libyan delegations chaired by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yuschenko and the Libyan Prime Minister Al-Baghdadi Ali Al-Mahmudi and tête-à-tête meeting between the President of Ukraine and the Libyan leader.

The sides also signed a Memorandum on cooperation in the legal area, and Memorandum on joint investments in agriculture.
