Grain Exports To Grow Fourfold This Year
June 27, 2008
In 2008-2009 export of grain will increase fourfold compared to the current figures and will amount to 13.5-14 million tons. This was announced by the Minister for Agricultural Policy Yuriy Melnyk.
As the NTN television channel has reported, the minister noted that this is connected with the fact that a larger harvest of grain crops – 40 million tons – is expected next year. According to his forecasts, wheat, barley and corn will have the largest share in the exports, as well as in the harvest in general.
It should be reminded that earlier Yu. Melnyk said that in July the government will start allocation of subsidies to Ukrainian farmers for sowing spring crops.
