The Prime Minister: 33.5 Million Tons of Grain Is Collected In Ukraine

The Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko states that 33.5 million tons of grain is collected in Ukraine. As Glavred informs, this was reported by her during the opening of the government meeting, adding that today grain crops are collected from 75% of a sown area.
“It is true that since Ukraine gained its independence we never had such numbers of collected grain, while secondly, we never had such crop capacity”, - as she stated.
Tymoshenko mentioned that Ukraine has an absolute record for wheat harvest that made up 36.7 centner per ha.
Tymoshenko reported that sowing area which was damaged as a result of a natural disaster in the Western Ukraine made up 52.8 thousand ha.
The Prime Minister announced prior sum of material losses of the Government – UAH 230.5 million. Tymoshenko noted that these are prior evaluations and the Government is intended to compensate these losses.
