Ukraine exports nearly 17mn t of grain

According to the latest figures, Ukraine has so far exported nearly 17mn tonnes of grain. This was announced at a press briefing on March 13 by Yuriy Luzan, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy.
According to the official’s figures, wheat constituted 8.7mn t, barley was 5.4mn t, maize was 2.8mn t, and the remainder was other grains. In addition, 3.1mn t of oilseed was exported, 2.5mn t of it rapeseed (canola), around 360,000 t of sunseed, and more than 210,000 t of soybean.
The Deputy Minister also announced that the Government had established preferential conditions for exports to work in, thanks to which it will be possible to fulfill the plan to export 25mn t of grain.
Mr. Luzan also noted that at this time the infrastructure of the grain market has been improving and that plans were to bring on line grain storage elevators with a total capacity of 2-2.5mn t in the current year.
Ukraine’s Agricultural Minister Yuriy Melnyk says that the balance of grain in the current year should allow Ukraine to export 25-25.5mn t of grain.
