In 2016, Ukraine exported over 5.5 million tons of wheat and 841,000 tons of oilseeds to Egypt generating more than 12% of overall exports in these crops, reports the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Egypt has recently liberalized the phytosanitary requirements for grain suppliers, particularly in terms of maximum ergot and ragweed seeds levels in grains and beans.
Egyptian delegation to Ukraine indicated interest in expanding grain trade with Ukraine and expressed eagerness to further purchase Ukrainian products provided that the phytosanitary requirements are fulfilled. At the same time, they praised the quality of Ukrainian grains.
