Saudi Arabia to Launch Production of Ukrainian Aircraft

June 30, 2017
First mass produced aircrafts An-132 are to be built in late 2018, said Oleksandr Khokhlov, director of the An-132 program.

“We will launch two assembly lines, one in Kyiv and the other one in Saudi Arabia. After both plants are constructed, the planes will be built both in Kyiv and in Saudi Arabia,” said Mr. Khokhlov. According to him, in 3-4 years each line will be able to manufacture at least 12 planes annually.

“As for the market, our Saudi partners say that the demand of their national security, defense and law enforcement agencies for this type of aircraft is 80 units, while the demand of the entire Middle East market is 250-260 planes. Additionally, during the next 10 years we plan to replace India’s out-of-date An-32 with modern An-132 which may increase the demand by more than 100 aircrafts,” said Oleksandr Khokhlov.

Khokhlov noted that Ukrainian aircraft would have both technical and economic advantages, over its business rivals. He also estimated the price tag of one An-132 aircraft at USD 30-35 million.
