Ukraine Increases Sunflower Oil Export by more than 50%

In the first half of 2017, Ukraine exported nearly USD 212 million worth of sunflower oil to more than 100 countries, which was 57 percent more than in the same period last year, as reported by ULIE (Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs ed.) Export Promotion Center referencing the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (SFS).

According to the Center, as of the first half of 2017, regional export structure of Ukrainian products looks as follows: Asia 54 percent of export volumes or USD 114 million; Africa 21 percent or more than USD 45 million; Europe 15 percent or over USD 33 million; CIS, Americas, Australia and Oceania 10 percent or almost USD 20 million.

As compared to the first half of 2016, this year, Ukrainian companies significantly increased export supplies of sunflower oil to the following countries: Egypt (by USD 27 million or 29.4 percent), Malaysia (by USD 18 million or 17.8 percent), Poland (by more than USD 7 million or 314 percent) and China (by USD 4 million or 224 percent).

According to Stepan Kapshuk, Executive Director of UkrOliiaProm, sales of packed sunflower oil from Ukrainian suppliers to European markets are growing at the rate of 40 percent compared to the same period last year. Mr. Kapshuk forecasts 30 percent increase of sunflower oil exports by the year-end, with the total volume reaching 1 million tons.
