Ukraine Increases Revenues from Raw Iron Ore Exports

In January-August 2017, Ukrainian mining and smelting companies increased revenues from exporting iron ore raw materials (IORM) by 54 percent against the same period last year – from USD 1.131 billion to USD 1.744 billion, as reported in the customs data of State Fiscal Service.

According to the statistics, 25.78 million tons of IORM were exported in eight months, which amounts to 6.34 percent of the country’s overall currency earnings.

The main buyers of Ukrainian IORM were China (28.45 percent of the earnings), Slovakia (11.04 percent) and Austria (11 percent).

As previously reported by UNIAN, in 2016 Ukraine’s revenues from exporting IORM dropped to USD 1.8 billion, which is 12.8 percent less than in 2015.
